According to some accounts, the lights of Old Theater Row were so bright that streetlamps could remain unlit at night. Among the many marquees was that of the Tabor Grand, an opera house built by a successful silver prospector. The theater presented operas alongside other theatrical works, and, much later, a very young Judy Garland singing as one of The Gumm Sisters.
